Anybody remember the manager of the Fourth Avenue location in Manhattan who died tragically back maybe 10-15 years ago? I believe his name was Tom, and it occurred when he was attempting to feed his snakes and accidentally fell into the glass tanks. I don’t know why I remember this or why I’m listing it now. Couldn’t sleep, and it suddenly popped into my head. Thought I’d try to look up the incident, but could not find anything on it. Anyway, thought I’d ask. Weird story. Terrible accident.

Many of us still remember Tom Giacometti, who was the store manager for 10 years back in the 90’s, he was well loved and we still miss him. He was also an accomplished Sculptor in his own right. And it was a great loss to the community. He passed away in 1999 and every so often a customer will bring up his name and some anecdote. Thanks for remembering him.

I remember Tom. I used to work for him and Dan came on board later too. I was deeply saddened by his passing away. I went to the service in NY.

I worked at the 4th Ave. store for 10 years and met my husband Peter only because of Tom Giacometti. Tom told me I should check out the portfolio of one of the guys who was working there, Peter Pagano. Long story short, we dated and got married (16 years ago) . We have two children and we named our youngest Thomas. We loved him very much. Still miss him and think about him. -Jenny Pagano

I went to school with Tom at the Corcoran in the eighties only recently learned of this. It is truly said as Tom was one of the most upbeat personalities I have ever met.
