Master Printmaker Gives Demonstration

Bruce Waldman, Master Printmaker, gave a talk and demonstration on Friday, July 13th at the famous Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop. The event, which was sponsored by Utrecht, drew a crowd of about 75 lucky people who had a chance to witness a very special event.

While generously showing page after page of his original monoprints, Bruce gave a running dialog on the story of each piece as well as revealing insider techniques. His work was dynamic and packed with a punch (literally, as Bruce frequently produces images of prize fighters). Bruce talked about printmaking and monoprints in particular and the dark blacks and drawing power that are unique to this medium. A published illustrator, Bruce also showed some of the books and magazine covers that have been graced with his work, along with the corresponding original images.

Audience members then moved to another area of the Blackburn Workshop where Bruce created a fantastic monoprint on the spot. Bruce demystified monoprint making for the audience. He made it look so easy, the mark of a true master.

Bruce Waldman will be offering a full Monoprint workshop on Saturday and Sunday, August 22-23, 10:30am -2:30 pm at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop.
Check their website for full details: rbpmw@efa1.org
