UTRECHT FARE: Featuring Artist Employees

This month we feature the art of Lois Cremmins, Business Development Specialist for NYC.

Lois is working on a series of horticulturally inspired collages utilizing images from seed catalogs and her imagination. She is in essence, gardening with paper, scissors, ink and paint.

Question: What is your current favorite Utrecht Art Supply?

Lois’ Answer: Nothing beats the colors and textures of Mi-Teintes Papers. If they were available in Matisse’s day he might not have had to paint papers for his collages.  blog-pic.JPG

Work of Art: The Next Great Artist

Check out the latest reality show on Bravo - Work of Art: The Next Great Artist. In each episode, contestants complete using their creative and technical skills, judged by a panel of top art world figures. The show is co produced by Sara Jessica Parker and the producers of Top Chef and Project Runway.  During the filming of the show, contestants frequent Utrecht’s Chelsea store on 23rd Street to obtain their supplies. Looks like our Chelsea store is on the way to becoming as popular Magnolia Bakery as featured on Sex and the City. work-of-art-next-great-artist-bravo.jpg

teachingstudios-pic.pngTeaching Studios of Art, a new school in Brooklyn, is hosting a grand opening open house on Friday, June 4, from 7-10 PM during Bushwick’s open studios night. Here is what they have to say about themselves:

About us The Teaching Studios of Art’s mission is to train artists in traditional techniques practiced for centuries before the advent of Modernism. We desire to equip students of all ages with the strengths of time-tested techniques. We offer portraiture, landscapes, the figure, and still life, all with a high degree of excellence. Our faculty is comprised of highly trained and skilled artists who have exhibited their work in New York and around the US. Our classes are small, and students receive much personal attention. Our clients are our community, and we take their needs seriously.
