Hi, my name is Ernest Baroni and I‘m the manager of Utrecht Art Supplies in Chelsea, New York City. I’ve been at the Chelsea store for two and a half years. Before coming to New York I was the manager of the Utrecht Store in Boston. I’ve been working at Utrecht for eight years.I’ve studied painting and art history in Boston and Chicago, and I’ve shown some of my paintings in galleries in Boston. When I was a student I enjoyed shopping at the Utrecht store on Massachusetts Avenue. I thought it was a kind of artist’s studio, decidedly unlike the fancier art material stores in town. I really liked Utrecht paint and very much liked the good prices. I keep these memories in mind nowadays when I consider how to represent our company here in New York City.

Here at Utrecht Chelsea we have five full time employees. Our Assistant Manager, Simone, has been at the store for three years. She works with cut papers to create vibrantly colorful, three-dimensional paper cutouts. Bernie and Yori work together as our morning team on the weekdays. If you have any questions about fresco painting, you can bring them to Yori. Bernie, in turn, is a graduate of the F.I.T. illustration department. Alex and Kent are our afternoon team. Alex is an accomplished painter and Kent is a very talented Illustrator and comic artist.

We also have a wonderful group of part-timers. At various times during the week you can ask Ania about graphic design, Fereidoun about traditional painting techniques, Jacqueline about poly-form clay, and Jennifer about printmaking. Desiree and Rolanda are both talented young artists studying fine arts and illustration.

We’re located in Chelsea on 23rd Street between 7th and 8th Aves. We’re a full service art supply store carrying products from hundreds of national brands.
